MURPH: The Protector

A feature documentary based on the honor, courage and commitment of Navy SEAL LT Michael Murphy.

Out of 1400+ films released in 2013, a select few were chosen to compete for the Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.  The music from MURPH: The Protector was selected for both categories.

On the first day of release, the film shot to #1 on iTunes and continues to hold a position in the top ten of all documentaries.

Chief Petty Officer Lance Vaccaro, a United States Navy SEAL, gave his life for his country in 2008.  On June 17th,  2010, four riders and a support team, all friends of Lance, launched the The Lance Vaccaro Memorial Ride and rode from Virginia Beach to Alaska and back in his honor.

They covered 12,000 miles in 31 days, and met folks from large cities and small towns across North America, including active duty troops, veterans, and the families of deployed and fallen troops who shared their stories of pride and heartbreak. A film crew accompanied them along the way and captured over 100 hours of footage, and nearly 30,000 high definition photographs.

The film is now available on DVD.  Please see the official site for details:

MURPH: The Protector:

“By celebrating an actual American hero, “Murph” reminds audiences that bells and whistles, budgets and effects aren’t necessary so long as filmmakers have human stories of bravery and valor to tell.”
